How to manage consulting clients with the help of Hubspot

By having a free Hubspot sales account, managing your client base really becomes a breeze. By installing their lead capture form on your website, you will also be able to capture new leads and integrate them into the managing system, so you can follow up with them later on.

The purpose of this article is to give you a brief overview of what you can expect by signing up and how to get started as smoothly and effortlessly as possible.

  1. Signing up

Signing up shouldn’t take more than a couple of minutes. The first step is to navigate to Hubspot’s website, then click the “get started” button that’s located in the top right section of the screen.

Upon arriving at the next screen, you will be presented with three different account options: marketing, sales, and CRM account. Don’t worry, all of them are free, but for our purposes, we want to select the sales account type.

After filling in some basic information about your company, you’re good to go!

  1. Installing the Hubspot Chrome extension (optional)

This step is completely optional, since you will still have the basic functionality of your account even if you decide to skip this step entirely. But should you choose to do it, importing contacts straight from your Gmail account will become much easier.

To get started, you will need to have the Chrome browser installed. After that, simply visit the Chrome web store, locate the Hubspot addon, and click the “add to Chrome” button to install the add-on. That’s it! Note that you may have to restart your browser afterwards.

  1. Benefits of having a Hubspot sales account

With the help of your Hubspot sales account, you get a good overview of your customers (contacts tab). It’s also incredibly easy to track the status of your orders under the deals tab. These support multiple order statuses which are graphically represented under each tab.

For example, if you’ve had a successful consulting session with one of your clients, but haven’t received your payment yet, you can drag it to the appropriate section, so you always keep things neatly organized. That way, you will be able to see and manage all order statuses in one place.

Another great benefit of having a Hubspot sales account is that it automatically gathers the data about a particular contact from you, once you’ve successfully imported it into your account. For example, if you’ve installed the Chrome extension, you can import a contact straight from Gmail with a single click.

 

Apart from that, you will probably require a to-do list of some sort to successfully manage your consulting business. Your free account covers that too, plus some additional handy tools to make your job easier even if you’re not tech savvy.

For those who are looking to streamline and automate the process a bit more, note that it’s possible to integrate your Hubspot account with IFFT or Zapier.

Finally, it should be mentioned their lead capture script streamlines the process of getting new clients and their contact information straight from your website. Of course, you’re going to have one made first and then drive some traffic to it for this to work, but this is far too broad of a topic to go over in a single article.
